Are You Tricked By The Word Resolution?

Ok, ok...it's only 3:45 p.m. ct on New Year's Day and you may already be tired of hearing the word resolution. So let me relieve your pain and invite you not to use the word!  There, do you feel better?

In fact the use of the word resolution the way we use it in the new year can really be deceiving, lead to discouragement and thereby not helpful!

Why? Because people use the word towards the intent to make a change or improvement of some kind. And, when looking closer at the definition, you'll discover that the meaning of resolution is only 1 part of the complete equation to successfully make a change.

Definition of RESOLUTION
1
: the act or process of resolving: as c : the act of determining
Resolve is about having will or determination. But in order to achieve the thing you're resolving about you've got to have a plan to which to apply the resolve.  Without a meaningful, actionable plan, the resolve will wain and die out ...um...usually about the middle of January?

So don't psyche yourself out or create an illusion of change and then beat yourself up when you don't achieve what you thought you would.  If you are really resolved, then create a plan to harness that resolve to manifest your intended results!
